William Crutchfield

William J. Crutchfield has more than 50 years of tennis coaching experience after he started coaching in the National Junior Tennis League in Washington, DC, at age 17. The National Junior Tennis League was created as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people, with the hope of teaching them the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens. He has maintained this same mission and coaching philosophy over the years places over 90% of all players he coached in higher education. He is the former Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at North Carolina A&T State University and has recently started the One Shot Sports and Education Foundation where he now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. The organization connects sports back to academics achievement and higher education.

Crutchfield is the Author of One Shot Tennis: The System of Conscious Prep for Subconscious Play is now collaborating with George Henry, whose resume in tennis is unmatched, to the second book One Shot Tennis by the Numbers: Practice to Learn – Rehearse to Win. Crutchfield describes his coaching style and overall approach to the physical, technical, and psychological aspects of tennis as something that helps progress players on the courts and in the classroom. Crutchfield has coached USTA Division I collegiate tennis players as well as coached and mentored professional tour players. His coaching experience includes over 40 years of lifetime youth related service in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development. He is a former collegiate player, a former high school coach and a former private instructor who has earned an impeccable reputation nationally and has recently added a Certification in Youth Sports administration to his resume.
